Angela DeShields

Hello Park Lodge Families!

I can't believe that we are heading into November already! Parent-Teacher conferences are coming up on November 19th-21st. School is dismissed at 12:30pm on those days. Our goal is to see 100% of our parents during conference week!

Safety Reminders

Student safety is critical. Vehicle drop-off and pick-up is in the back of our school. Students must remain in the vehicle until a staff member is present in the morning. When entering and exiting the vehicle, please have your student use the right side of the vehicle.

Arrival/Dismissal

Our bus loop is in front of our building. We ask that vehicles do not enter the bus loop during morning drop-off and afternoon pick-up. If your student walks to school, we ask that you re-enforce the importance of using the crosswalks with our crossing guards. We appreciate your support in making all areas of our school safe.

Veteran’s Day and Military Family Appreciation Month

November brings us Veteran's Day and Military Family Appreciation Month. We want to recognize the sacrifice our service members and their families make each day for our country.  Thank you for all that you do!

Native American Heritage Month

November is Native American Heritage Month. This is a month to call attention to the culture, traditions, and achievements of the nation’s original inhabitants and of their descendants. This is a great time to learn what native land you are on, explore Indigenous art or books, or learn about the challenges Native American communities have faced.

Leader in Me

Habit 2: Begin with the End in Mind (Have a plan). As adults, we make plans multiple times a day. It is important for students to learn how to plan. As we focus on Habit 2, begin with the end in mind. Ask your student, “What’s your goal for tomorrow?” Then ask, “What steps can you take to reach your goals?”.

At Park Lodge, we are helping students develop this habit through WIGS (Wildly Important Goals).

What Are WIGs? WIGs are high-impact goals that help students focus on what matters most during the school year.  The focus could be reading, math, writing, behavior, or any area students want to improve.

Why Use WIGs? They help build student ownership, focus, and lifelong goal-setting habits.

How WIGs Work in Classrooms—Students set measurable goals and track progress through actionable steps (called “lead measures”).

Transportation Changes

If your student requires a transportation change, please contact the office prior to 1:00pm so we can ensure that this information is relayed to the teacher and student prior to dismissal.

Early Pick-Ups

If you are picking your student up early from school, we ask that you do this before 3:00pm. Between 3:00pm and 3:30pm students and staff are wrapping up instruction and preparing for dismissal. Additionally, our buses are arriving, and it creates a safety concern when parents and students must walk around buses.

Lost and Found

Our Lost and Found is overflowing! Please remind your student(s) to check the Lost and Found for any items that may belong to them.
