Park Lodge Principal Synette Melluzzo

April 21, 2020

Dear Park Lodge Families,

As you know, Governor Inslee has closed school buildings through the end of this school year. However, he did NOT close teaching and instruction. In fact, he has required school districts to resume teaching on Monday, April 27th. To date all of the learning materials Clover Park School District has provided has been review for each grade level. Starting Monday, the 27th, new instruction and learning will begin online.

Over the last few weeks Park Lodge staff have been reaching out to families and students to check in and see how you and your family are doing. This week the district has begun the distribution of technology to those families that filled out the technology survey. If, for some reason, you didn’t take the survey and you are in need of technology, please call the Clover Park SD Instructional Technology department at 253-583-5053 and give them your information.

Starting next week on Monday, April 27th teachers will begin online teaching with your student(s). Please be patient as we all learn to work with the technology. We will work through all the glitches together. It will truly be a team effort.

Teachers are required to take attendance. Even if your child is unable to log into Microsoft Teams during their assigned time to participate in the online session, we need to hear from you. Keep emailing, calling or texting your child’s teacher so he or she can provide support in a different manner.

Learning materials are distributed on Wednesday through Friday via bus with the food delivery. Please see the district website for details on stops and times. Materials may also be picked up at any elementary school. Starting Wednesday, April 29th, students will need to have their grade level Learning Materials each week. This is when we switch from review to new learning. The learning packet will be the primary source of the work students will be doing. Teachers will be supporting students online with this material.

You will be contacted by your child’s teacher with times for your student(s) online learning sessions. Teachers are very excited about seeing their students again! Even though we will not be meeting in person, please keep us informed about what is going on in your lives. We are here to make sure your student gets the best education possible in these unusual times.

The instructional flyer for downloading Office 365 and Teams, says “District ID #”, what you really want is your student’s identification number. Older students should have their number memorized. No worries if they don’t you or your student will receive an email with all the information you need. The password is the same password students use at school, Dolphin1, Dolphin2, etc. Office 365 and Teams is available to all Clover Park School District students at no cost to them.

Teams is the software teachers will be using to work with your student(s). It has video and allows staff to provide “in-person” instruction. Teachers may also post videos, links, tutorials, etc. for your student to access. Please download and install Teams and Office 365 before Monday the 27th.

If you need school supplies, they are distributed from the buses with food and Learning Materials. Please see the district website for bus stops and times.

You and your student(s) are missed.

Be Safe, Stay Home, Stay Healthy!

Respectfully,

Synette Melluzzo, MA, NBCT
Principal
